PROJECT: Disney’s Wonder of Friendship

BACKGROUND: For more than a century, Disney has brought people together through stories of dynamic duos, unlikely pals and inseparable friends. So when Disney launched a centennial exhibit celebrating friendship, they challenged Arcadia to make it even more magical, shareable, and connecting with the magic of Augmented Reality.
ROLE: I managed a talented team of designers, AR developers, and creatives to bring Disney’s Wonder of Friendship experiential tour to life. Over nine months, we conceptualized and integrated Snapchat's cutting-edge technology into the touring event, collaborating closely with Disney’s Global Creative Innovation team to plan and execute this groundbreaking celebration across London, Berlin, Paris, and Madrid.
The World’s First European Augmented Reality Tour
The exhibit featured five whimsical experiences that leveraged augmented reality to pay homage to iconic Disney characters, their incredible stories, and the power of true friendship. I traveled across Europe with Disney, localizing each activation for a unique and unforgettable experience.
ALICE IN WONDERLAND: We harnessed LiDAR sensors and machine learning to craft an AR fantasy in the first room, letting guests embark on synchronized magical adventures with the Garden of Mystery characters.
OHANA BAY: Using pinpoint AR tracking, we created custom mischievous Stitch antics that dynamically interacted with groups of friends during selfie moments, creating the perfect recipe for chaos!
ORCHESTRAL OASIS: We extended our LiDAR and machine learning technology to Pride Rock, creating a lifelike recreation of Simba’s kingdom, immersing guests in the flora and fauna of native creatures and plants!
THE WONDER QUEST: An interactive scavenger hunt powered by machine learning and visual recognition transforms the phone into a magical looking glass. Find six keys to unlock an exclusive Mickey AR experience available only at the exhibit!
PANDORA JEWELRY: Try on Pandora's exclusive '100 Years of Disney' charm collection, crafted with Snapchat’s Ray Tracing technology, which reflects fragments of light to create lifelike jewelry reincarnations.
